Pateh:
Pateh is a type of Iranian needlework in the Kerman region, which consists of sewing colored woolen threads on single-colored woolen cloths called ariz or shawls, using beautiful designs and old patterns and designs of Iran, such as: bote jegheh, Cedar (tree of life), Tangerine and… appear. The view of Pateh displays an original view of colorful flowers and bushes and has a stunning and eye-pleasing beauty. Since the creators of this view are usually artistic women and girls from Kerman, they have considered it a symbol of thousands of memories and times of happiness that were engraved in the minds of these women and girls and from the effect of their tired looks that every morning until Dinner, following the needle, moved from one point to another, created. Unfortunately, the exact date of the creation of this beautiful art is not available. In various art books, the oldest example of Pateh stitching in the world is considered to be from 1868 AD. The word Pateh, derived from the root Pot, means wool and fur.
To produce an embroidered piece, first the width is cut to the required dimensions and then it is handed over to the designer. In the design stage, first the design is drawn on the calque paper, and then the lines of the design are pierced according to the needle, and then they are made to fit on the intended width, and plaster powder is poured on it (for light fabrics from charcoal soil is used) then the specified points are marked on the cloth with pen and ink. After the design, the thread and color are choosed. In recent years, bright colors have made their way into embroidery, and original and old colors are often dark.
After choosing and preparing the thread, the embroiderer first stitches the place of the main lines. This step is because the motifs are sewn linearly, it is famous for stem embroidery. Then the patterns and text are embroidered and filled with a special style; This part is called water embroidery or text embroidery. The third stage, which is one of the most important stages of embroidery, is the stage of embroidering leaves and shading with thread around flowers and patterns. Leaf embroidery is usually done around the border in a zigzag pattern and it is also called Potk dosi (Potk means bud in the local language). After finishing sewing, the Pateh is washed and ironed and ready for sale.
